Advent is definitely one of the greatest opportunities to adopt a tradition that will help your family to slow down during this busy season and focus on what really matters.
Advent is the period beginning four Sundays before Christmas, observed as a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the coming of Christ. If you’ve been around Christ Journey for a Christmas season, then you know that we celebrate Advent in our worship experiences by lighting a candle each week during Advent to represent an attribute of Christ’s coming and to tell a part of the Christmas story. On Christmas Eve we light a fifth candle to honor the incarnation of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
This year we have a fun Advent Calendar for you and your family to use each day leading up to Christmas. Each day you will do a fun activity with your kids while you talk to your children about why Jesus came to earth. It is our prayer that each day you will have an opportunity to get a better glimpse of what God is really like and to demonstrate His character to others.
You can download the Advent Calendar or pick one up at the Christmas table in the Family Ministry area at church starting Sunday, Nov. 26th. It is our prayer that peace of God will guard your hearts and your homes during this Advent season.
